{ Beauté } – The Emmys 2012

I should start by saying that, as usual, my husband and I missed the Emmys. Since the Emmys never excite us as much as the Oscars, we decided that staying a couple of hours extra at the beach was more important than rushing home early to watch this event. Luckily, I caught the last hour of the re-run last night and noticed – yet again – that I didn’t really miss much.

What was going on with the fashion this year? Is it me, or are the gowns getting less and less glamourous by the year? Nothing really caught my attention or made me go “wow!” Everything was just okay, with the exception of the colors. I LOVED the colors. The red carpet looked so happy and bright, I liked seeing some of these actresses taking bold risks and getting out of their comfort zone.

And since I wasn’t too amazed by the fashion, I decided to share some of my favorite hairstyles of the night instead. While looking through hundreds of pictures online, I noticed a great number of “natural-looking” hairdos, and a handful of the natural, loose waves we all love and try to imitate. Oh, and if I had to choose an overall favorite, I’d have to say Claire Danes stole the night for me. She looked absolutely stunning in that Lanvin gown, very comfortable and effortlessly chic. She glowed!

Here are my favorite “Natural – Looking” ladies of the night:

How about you – who did you love? Who did you hate?
Until next time!

{ Style Crush } – The Clarins Sisters

The sisters and cousins, Claire, Prisca, Jenna and Virginie Courtin-Clarins are tall, French, beautiful, stylish, down-to-earth and the grand-daughters of the founder of the beauty brand I love: Clarins. Ever since they joined the international “jetset group,” this quartet has been an obsession for everyone in the fashion industry. They are in advertisements, magazines, blogs and on the front row of every fashion show that matters.

With their model-like statures, flawless skin and inviting personalities, it’s hard not to be obsessed with these girls. Plus, they are smart, extremely business oriented and really creative. They are a real inspiration for many – for sure – but the real reason I chose them to be our “Style Crush” this week is none other than their sense of style. They are laid-back yet chic, trendy yet original. With such interesting pieces, you bet I’d love to take a tour inside of their closets!

Oh, and did I mention their skin is ALWAYS glowing? A definite plus for Clarins!

{ Style Crush } – America Ferrera

This week’s “Style Crush” is someone I find absolutely gorgeous. I’ve loved her ever since she starred in the “Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants” (Gosh, remember those books?) and have always thought she was a great example that every curvy woman should love and embrace their body. She always looks stylish, polished, feminine and knows how to accentuate her curves by wearing clothes that hug her in all the right places (especially her waist).

Being curvy is beautiful, empowering and sexy. As my dad always said, women were built to have “some meat in their bodies.” Every time I look at pictures of the actresses that dominated the “Old Hollywood” era, I can’t help but wonder WHY society’s perception of beauty has changed so much, and who thought changing it would be a good idea. These women were stunning and incredibly sensual. Don’t get me wrong, I find Angelina Jolie to be absolutely gorgeous, but in my opinion, she comes no where near Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Rita Hayworth, Gene Tierney, Sophia Loren, I can go on and on…

We come in all shapes and sizes, and we are ALL beautiful!

Until next time!

{ Events } – My Oscars 2012 Best Dressed List

This year I can’t give much of an opinion about what happened in the Oscars. Unfortunately, we left the beach house kind of late on Sunday and arrived home just in time to watch the last few awards – including the Angelina “episode,” which I thought was kind of awkward. But hey, it’s Angelina and she can get away with pretty much anything. Honestly, all I could think about when she was on stage was how much I think she should gain a few pounds. She looked so frail!

Oh, and I was VERY happy when Meryl Streep won. She’s fantastic!

But anyway, since I missed most of this fabulous event, I had to count on my friend Google to catch up on all the goodies and choose my favorite looks of the night.

Take a look:

1. Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton. I think this is my favorite of the night. The dress matched her personality (and hair) perfectly. She looked ADORABLE, classy and elegant without looking like she tried too hard. Her lip color also looked gorgeous on television.

2. Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford. My second favorite. She always gets it right and always looks very polished and modern. The only thing I didn’t love was her hair…

3. Emma Stone in Giambattista Valli. I adore this girl! She’s absolutely gorgeous and has the most charming personality. This dress looked sensational on her, and the color couldn’t have been more fitting for her skin tone.

4. Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji. This dress fit her like a glove; it accentuated her curves flawlessly and the sparkle contrasted beautifully on her skin tone. She looked stunning!

5. Milla Jovovich in Elie Saab. As always, you cannot go wrong with Elie Saab – his gowns are always Oscars-worthy.

6. Angelina Jolie and her leg in Atelier Versace. The dress is fabulously sexy and Angie looks good on pretty much anything she puts on. Her makeup looked impeccable too (I’ve got to get that lipstick color!)

7. Penelope Cruz in Armani Prive looking very Grace Kelley-ish and very, very elegant. I love that neckline on her.

8. Giuliana Rancic in Tony Ward. I love Giuliana and I loved everything about this gown. She looked like one of the stars!

9. Viola Davis in Vera Wang. I find this woman fascinating! She was amazing in “The Help” and very deserving of her nominations. This color and silhouette looked gorgeous on her.

10. Jean Dujardin’s wife, Alexandra Lemy. Not sure who the designer is, but this dress was the picture of effortless elegance. She looked feminine, chic, sexy and very appropriate for the occasion. I loved it!
How about you, who were your favorites?

{ Beauté } – Golden Globes, The Makeup

For this year’s Golden Globes, I wasn’t as impressed with the couture as I was with the makeup (and hair – but that’s for later). I’m so happy to finally see the stars choosing more natural-looking, clean, dramatic but not overly dramatic, makeup looks that enhance their best and beautiful features, instead of hiding them – well, with the exception of Nicole Richie and her raccoon eyes.

I was also thrilled to see all the “nude” looks (I’m obsessing with the nude trend), and think it will be huge for the upcoming spring season. Picture nude shades of eyeshadows with a coral lipstick and blushy cheeks. GORGEOUS!

Here are some starlets whose makeup I thought were absolutely inspiring:

Until next time!

{ Style Crush } – Hanneli Mustaparta

You have probably seen Hanneli in your favorite fashion magazines several and numerous times. Maybe you saw her working professionally as a model, or as a fashion “It Girl,” or perhaps as one of the most popular and followed bloggers in the industry. Her blog, Hanneli.com, has been considered one of the “9 Most Influential Blogs” by Vogue (US) in 2010, and since then it has grown even more, opening many doors and new projects for Hanneli to explore and dive into, showing us her talents not only as a fashion inspiration and icon, but also as a great street style photographer.

This Norwegian long-legged beauty is our “Style Crush” this week because I cannot get enough of her simple and natural sense of style. She’s absolutely gorgeous and knows how to put an outfit together without looking too pretentious or trendy. I also ADORE the fact that she NEVER over-accessorizes, looking extremely sophisticated and feminine at all times.

{ Style Crush } – Bianca Brandolini D’adda

Bianca and I have a couple things in common: our birthday and our brazilian heritage – that’s about it. European Socialite, Heiress, and Long-Legged Beauty are words that would never describe me even if I tried (or wanted to).

This 25-year old Parisian It-Girl not only comes from royalty, she lives the jetset lifestyle with her boyfriend, Fiat Heir Lapo Elkann, and has a closet I’d sure love to live in. With an easy, chic and super hip style, Bianca always manages to look effortless stylish (like she’s put no thought what-so-ever into her ensembles), and admittedly loves to show off her long legs by choosing mini dresses and cute shorts any day. She’s often photographed wearing fashionable sandals, Oxford shoes and biker boots, proving she is not a slave to heels and is one cool and super fierce royal.

Plus, having BFF’s such as Olivia Palermo was just another reason why we just HAD to have her on our list of “Style Crushes!”

Wouldn’t you agree?

Until next time!

{ Style Crush } – Pippa Middleton

Her sister might be married to a prince – actually, to one of the most popular princes in the world – but who says Pippa stands under her sister’s shadow? Oh no, this girl stands on her own! She’s smart, beautiful, classy, independent, has a killer body and ever since the world was introduced to the Middleton family, Pippa became a style inspiration for many women all around the world – just like her princess sister.

And what I like the most about Pippa’s style is that she’s very understated. She doesn’t need to flaunt her money or social status through what she wears, and she doesn’t need to follow any trends. She always looks feminine, effortlessly elegant, and she always stays true to her style identity, which shows she’s really comfortable under her own skin.

Until next time!

{ Closet Envy } – Viviane Piquet

A while ago, the brazilian bloggers of Com Drama invaded a closet that I find not only impressive in content, but also in organization: the (super) envious closet of the gorgeous Viviane Piquet, the 40 year- old wife of former brazilian 3- time world champion Formula 1 driver, Nelson Piquet. A woman who, in my opinion, has a very classic, elegant, and sophisticated sense of style.

I’ve been meaning to share these pictures with you for quite a while now, but since life got busy and time passed by… I just forgot.  But hey, better late than never, right?
So, enjoy ladies!

{ Gossip } – The Countess and Her Blonde Hair

This morning, while I was browsing through Facebook, I came across a picture of Countess LuAnn de Lesseps (from the Real Housewives of NYC) with my friends from AdrianaFabiana, who were in NYC for fashion week, and my heart skipped a beat.

All I cound think was “No! Je ne peux pas le croire!” That cannot be LuAnn! The one who likes to believe she’s the picture of class, grace and etiquette? Oh my…c’est horrible!

LuAnn, I love you and I think you’re gorgeous, I really, really do….but please my “dahhhling” change this hair color ASAP! It does not suit you at all. In my personal opinion, in your attempt to look younger and live the “blondes have more fun” lifestyle, you ended up looking like a drag queen.

There, I said it!

LuAnn, NOW and THEN
What do you think?
